LLL parts and ebay.Hi I am trying to get hold of the hydraulic ram for the Cali roof but am having difficulty. Part number is; 7H7875795. Can anyone help
I'm afraid not. I only know of Kernow Transporters in Cornwall who come highly recommended.Thank you for the reply, I have contacted them and they say they have the part in stock. You wouldn't know a specialist in the North, North West who works on the roof systems. I am a bit apprehensive of tackling the job myself
It might be worthwhile talking to Kernow Transporters. There is a campsite nearby and they would complete the work in a few hours. I know it's a long way but it would be sorted by experts.Again thanks for the quick response, I have been researching the roof system for some time now and it is generally a simple system used across a range of convertibles( pump, rams and sensors), Considering the vans have been available since 2006 it is amazing how difficult it is to find someone who can deal with them. If I had a suitable workshop I think I could sort it.
I have managed to find VW's mechanical handbook PDF for the California which details all the steps, unfortunately I don't have a garage and equipment.
I haven’t used them and can’t make any recommendations, but Roofmotors.co.uk are based in Ilkley and they sell California pumps etc and lots of other stuff. So not California specific but they will deal with lots of Power-Packer designed and manufactured roof systems like the Cali.Again thanks for the quick response, I have been researching the roof system for some time now and it is generally a simple system used across a range of convertibles( pump, rams and sensors), Considering the vans have been available since 2006 it is amazing how difficult it is to find someone who can deal with them. You could try W.C.C Wirral Car Care VW and Audi specialists in Heswall. They do all the work and servicing on my Cali.mailto:[email protected]I haven’t used them and can’t make any recommendations, but Roofmotors.co.uk are based in Ilkley and they sell California pumps etc and lots of other stuff. Please keep us updated on progress. Best of luck for a great outcomeThanks for the replies, I will have a ring around this week to see if I can get a resolution
After going through a very thorough search like you, there is only one guy I would trust; Richard at Kernow Transporters fixes several California roof issues every week and he’s definitely worth traveling down to Cornwall for. We planned in a weeks holiday at Marazion and Richard fixed ours by special arrangement on the Saturday morning when we arrived. He’s a top man and extremely knowledgeable. Thanks for the replies, I will have a ring around this week to see if I can get a resolution

I found it’s very important to ask for an estimate of cost or even a quote if you know exactly what you need doing. The responses will be revealing. I had two others on my shortlist that estimated the approximate time and cost between two and three times what Richard quoted as a fixed price. He clearly knows exactly what to do and how long it will take. Also, ask the others how many have they done.Hi thanks for the reply I will give him a call in the next few days and see if he can get it sorted
Just noticed your van is 2017, if so the roof sensors may be close to end of life. Richard usually has these in stock and will give you an honest opinion if they need replacing.I found it’s very important to ask for an estimate of cost or even a quote if you know exactly what you need doing. Correction, 2007?Just noticed your van is 2017, if so the roof sensors may be close to end of life. Richard usually has these in stock and will give you an honest opinion if they need replacing.
Reasonable supposition. I would suggest replacing both rams as the possibility of the 2nd ram failing is a distinct possibility.Hi
Initially the roof did not raise completely and I followed guidance and found pump reservoir to be very low. I refilled it and the roof worked again but I noticed small drop over time on nearside. When cleaning roof channels and seals I noticed oil ( and could smell it) to the rear of the nearside ram so having read various posts on the forums I believe leaking ram is the issue
Based on the age of the van 2007, I am going to ask if both rams and sensors could be changed and also a new canopy installed. I know it's a lot of work and probably costly but we paid 25k seven years ago, van only done 80k miles with one previous owner before us. We love the van and would like another 7-10 good years.Reasonable supposition. I would suggest replacing both rams as the possibility of the 2nd ram failing is a distinct possibility.
It’s a great van, parts should always be available and will never rust. We’ve owned our 2008 van 16 years and hope to get another 15 yrs with it. Ours has done 65k. Kernow sounds like a very good option. Plus obviously T5s are the best.Based on the age of the van 2007, I am going to ask if both rams and sensors could be changed and also a new canopy installed.
