Indicator sound, lights left on warning sound and seat belt warning sound not working

Hi all

We moved back to South Africa from the UK with our 2012 California Beach and the above three audible warning sounds have stopped working recently. The VW workshop does not know how to fix it, which I find really surprising as I would have thought it would something simple to replace. Dose anybody have any idea as to how this can be fixed?

Warning sounds stopped.

Hi all. Hoping to get some advice. I noticed today that the indicator “tick” sound and other warning sounds (seat belt, lights on etc) has stopped working. All else seems to be ok with indicators working correctly but no sound. Is this a known problem? And is it a diy fix? many thanks in advance.

Do you have a factory fitted Towbar?

yes, I do.

There is a micro switch in the vehicle towbar socket that can stick On. I had a problem with mine and certain audible warnings and Stop Start were disabled , but I can't remember which warnings as it was some time ago but have an idea the Seat belt might have been one of them. Some electrical spray and plugging in the trailer plug in/out and the switch popped out.

From my reading of the advice on that forum I need to try and do a ECU reset through a capacitive discharge of the battery (including leisure batter). I will give that a go and let you know the outcome.
