Is it better to post trip reports on here or on trip advisor?

As some of you may know we have recently taken delivery of our new California Ocean 204 DSG. I’ve posted a trip report of our shakedown trip to North Norfolk. Some response - thank you to those who have replied. I’m still feeling my way in this forum. Would you say you that members mainly like to chat about their vehicles and to receive advice and support about them or is there a place for trip reports. I’m asking the question because it’s a lot of work to write a trip report and I’m happy to carry on if it’s a thing on here? If not no worries, I’ll just carry on on TA. What do you all think?

There're these 2 sections, one on travel and the other on campsite reviews...

Thanks Sad, that’s good to know. Up to owning the Cali I’ve done all my reports on TA. I can’t do both for Cali trips so I’m feeling my way. I’ll still do TA reports for non Cali trips.

I usually post trips/travel ideas with a California here and love to read about other advantures and scroll through pictures. So please post them here
On Tripadviser I used to rate places and views rather than talking about a journey.

I do enjoy reading trip reports on here. In fact, I've gotten loads of ideas from them, both on good Cali destinations and on different ways people use their van. And if nothing else, it motivates me to go out and use my van for an adventure.

Now that I think about it, it seems like the balance in the forum might have shifted a bit since covid. People have been travelling less (fewer trip reports) and many more new buyers joined (buying advice, waiting list woes). So let's all get back to using our wonderful vehicles and share with the forum!

Please keep posting great campsite and road trip experiences!

Thanks buzz, sapto, kingfisher and 66. I agree kingfisher that Covid and new buyers (like me) may have shifted the balance. I think we need to get back to travel related reports. I’m personally interested in that!

KEEP POSTING, great to see others trip posts and how they use the van sites etc.

great Job @Brightonbelle A++++

Keep posting, love reading about trips in vans whilst I await my own van. Reviews of campsites and the local areas, helps immensely when I start to plan my own trips.

Why not do both. Plenty of different types of folk using different platforms and plenty on here who’ll enjoy your posts.

Maybe you could do a short, cali-related impression on here, with some nice pictures, and then link out to your posts on Tripadvisor for the detailed descriptions of the destination? That is, if you want to keep all your trips together also on TA. I don't really know if TA works that way. I have seen others link out to personal blogs etc. for more detailed reports and extra pics.

Whatever you choose, we love to hear about your travels here!

Blog-like posts are nice to read on here. If it’s just giving an opinion on whether to stay there or not, then I often read the reviews on Google or the searchforsites / park4night apps: I never look at Tripadvisor for campsites.
