Hushinish is fantastic! One of our fave places……. Is it still free?I had to post this as it is probably the best photo I have ever taken. I am sure others here have taken better. It was on the ferry from Castlebay, Barra to Oban, last week. Second pic, Hushinish Beach, South Harris, 3rd pic South Harris.

Thank youFabulous picture of the dolphins
Its free, with a suggested donation of £10, which we paid. Good to keep it going. The showers are closed at night, opened at about 7am and cost £1.Hushinish is fantastic! One of our fave places……. Is it still free?
On our travels we met many people who recommended Mull. So that is now on our list, as are the Orkneys. We also met a couple who were returning from the Shetlands. So many places to see in the UK still. We had really nice weather on the Islands, to the south anyway and waiting at Barra Airport was well worth it.nice pictures! Been there in 2019 (Barra, Vatersay, South en North Uist) and loved it. Then Skye, Portree where we get our fish and chips if we pass by, Mull of Kintyre, Tan Hill Inn, Britain's highest inn (were I got blind-drunk) and back home to Bruges, Belgium. It was a fabulous holiday. Did some castles too and drove around a lot.
Greeting

Interesting re. the faerry. We met someone whose ferry was diverted due to a Mayday and hence, delayed. Our ferry from Castlebay to Oban was under blue skies and sunshine - almost like a mini cruise. How do you find the rear box on the cycle rack. I have been thinking about getting one, although they are a bit pricey. What do you keep in it?We also had good weather, sunny but unbelievably windy (can happen once in a while) but while sailing back to Oban, due to the storm at sea, the hull of the ferry cracked and we were sinking.
The ship turned around and we sailed back to Barra; luckely everything ok for everyone. The crack was actually above the waterline so it could be repaired in the harbor on Barra (and that would take several days). At sea, however, during the storm, water entered and therefore too risky to continue sailing. Then stayed a day longer and later sailed via Armdhor to Eriskay with a smaller ferry that could handle the then slightly less severe storm. It was all intense and exciting but also memorable. I was able to extend my leave at work and so did South and North Uist, we also took the ferry from Lochmaddy to Uig. Visited Kilt Rock, Dunvegan Castle and a few more places such as Spean Bridge, drove to Ben Nevis and saw Castle Stalker on the way to the Kintyre peninsula and then drove to Mull of Kintyre with the well known track on repeat (almost anyway). And then had my evening at Tan Hill Inn. In the evening we had a nice meal and in the morning a hearty breakfast (we slept in our van).
From this trip I also got the slogan: Time is precious, waste it wisely (saw that in Castlebay Post Office and Macroon's Tea Room; delicious cake and there we found out that there were still a few places on the ferry to South Uist and we could come along).
It was one of our most beautiful trips.
