Lake District newbies

Hi folks

The good lady has told me that she wants to go to the Lakes this year. I am after a few recommendations of possible sites that we could state at. Unfortunately my wife has some mobility issues so we don't want a site that is totally in the boonies; some nice gentle walks nearby would be great, preferably with a pub nearby. We have a small dog as well. Any thoughts?

I've watched @Pro moochers YouTube videos and that has provided some food for thought. Thanks.

The national Trust sites at Low Wray and Wastdale look interesting. Does anyone have any experience?

Open for any recommendations.

Ambleside - possible to camp at Rugby club, level walk into town 10 minutes.
Keswick - big site level walk into town.
Glenridding - spaces for six vans by river and 8 minute walk into village.
Wasdale and Low Wray are both driving distance wise for shops etc. In Wasdale consider Strands as campsite shop is excellent.
Coniston sites all out of village.
Langdale NT twelve minutes walk from ODG (pub) and has small site shop.

The beauty of a Cali is you can be quite itinerant and get around the Lakes easily.

Nat Trust site as eskdale has lots of good modest walks, including 3 short ones to 3 excellent pubs. Fab showers.... All very Cali.

i would avoid wasdale with mobility issues. it's famous for its huge walks in the western fells, scafell, pillar etc. usually booked up for vans anyway as it's mainly a tent site.
as said ,keswick but thats a caravan and camping site,very popular,book early. they have 3 night minimum stays over weekends.
national trusts at langdale (stickle varn inn and elterwater easy walking )and coniston hall are in great locations, especially coniston for amazing easy paved walks by the lake. go on speed week for an amazing experience where you can go see the power boats and chat with the drivers.
eskdale is more road walking into the village but also nice. you could take the miniature railway there from boot down to ravenglass and visit muncaster castle and grounds,easy flat walking,but don't miss the train back by drinking too many beers in the Ratty arms at Ravenglass station !
you can't go wrong with windermere or ambleside for walks into town with lots of pubs BUT avoid the popular times like bank holidays. i'm a big fan of glenridding but with mobility issues i would go further up the lake to pooley bridge. the sun inn is the best pub there and easy walking from waterside campsite right by the lake. handy too for the ullswater steamer rides.
finally,take a coat and enjoy. it's an amazing place.

Castlerigg Hall CCC site Keswick lovely site great walks straight from the door .Good footpath into Keswick ,uphill coming back though.

I'd say Langdale, Eskdale or Glenridding - all places with nice walks straight from the site

Can highly recommend the NT one in Eskdale. 5 mins walk from two pubs, 7 mins from the little railway and lots of lovely walks. And the facilities on site are really nice too.

Caravan and camping club site at Braithwaite village is immaculately kept and the toilets and showers are better than some 5 star hotels.
Level pitches.
Royal Oak pub 2 minutes up the road. Regular buses into Keswick.
