So we seem to have settled on Lake Garda for our Easter adventure. Just wondering if anyone has advice on:

* driving routes
We’ll be leaving from Lausanne, Switzerland and I was thinking of taking the Saint Bernard Pass over to Aoste and then heading across to Milan and then stopping at Peschiera del Garde. Does anyone have any suggestions for more interesting routes than the gps suggestion of all autostrada once we leave Aoste?

* Things to see en route.
I’d like to stop off and see the Saint Bernard dogs. http://www.fondation-barry.ch/
Any other interesting side trips en route?

* campsite in Peschiera del Garde.
We’re traveling as a family with 6 and 4 year old children and looking for a campsite that’s definitely open at Easter and from which we can safely cycle into town/around the lake. Bella Italia appears to be the one (although I hate that kind of giant campsite normally)
Anyone been there?

* Tips for visiting Verona or Venice? We’re thinking of a train ride there and back rather than going with the Cali.

* Things to do in the immediate area?
Gardaland theme park looks perfect for a family day out. https://www.gardaland.it/en/
Any other recommendations/must sees?

All other hints, tips or recommendations gratefully received!

Train to Venice and Verona most definitely the easiest way be sure to get your tickets validated at the platforms before boarding. Verona can be done in a full day best sites are the Roman theatre and a view point that looks back over Verona, the Arena di Verona and Casa Di Giulietta for the chance to watch people grope a statue below a slightly tourist misleading balcony. Venice you need a good few days to include all sights and islands. Stay away from San Marco for a coffee as they charge a 6 euro per person music fee on your bill. Get a day ticket for the river taxi and you can bounce about as much as you like and Murano is a nice part to visit.
