Despite living in Aberdeenshire on and off for over 25 years I haven’t been to either Lewis or Harris.

So this year was the opportunity to change that, as Ullapool is not miles away from us in Aberdeenshire we decided to focus the trip on Lewis & Harris and will head further south in future years.

In Lewis we used Eilean Fraoich as a base which was ideally located and the owner could not be more helpful. In Harris we stayed at Luskentyre car park one evening as the poor weather at the start of the week meant it was quite quiet.

We then stayed at Horgabost for two nights and were treated after a stormy week to a fantastic sunset, we really liked this campsite.

In terms of places to visit … we ran out of time to visit and walk all the beaches we wanted to walk along.

But we did get to - Butt of Lewis, Calanais stones, Stornoway Harris Tweed Exhibition, Harris Distillery tour. The Golden Road

In terms of Beaches : Eoropie, Luskentyre, Seilebost, Horgabost & Reef Beaches

In short a brilliant week, and we even spotted 3 new Multivan Californias on our travels.

Thanks for sharing, I love the islands up there.
Truly inspiring.

Stunning photos. Visited Harris then drove south to North Uist. Plan to go back and explore more next year. Magical place.

From Aberdeenshire ourselves, yet haven’t been either. Now with your photos though we now feel inspired to go.

However, that will need to wait as we’re currently prepping for a long haul to Cornwall in 2 weeks with a stopover in the Malvern Hills (plenty room for the dogs) on the way down and the Lake District on the way back.
