Looking to buy
Hi guys. I’ve just joined this group today. Thanks to admin for letting me in!

My wife and I are looking at buying our first California. We’ve rented a converted transporter for a weekend to take the kids camping and really enjoyed the experience.

Whatever we go for our budget only allows us to buy second hand. We’ve looked at both low mileage Ocean SE’s and 2018/19 Oceans. That range seems to have a price of between £40-50k.

We’d love to hear the opinion of those with more experience on this. Is there much difference in user experience between the T5 and T6? What would others do in our position and what should we look out for?

Thank you all in advance

This all depends on your budget. The T6 is Euro 6 so if you plan to enter any of the growing number of low emission zones, that’s a plus. Also later models have more standard kit that used to be options in previous years. One item worth mentioning is the hob and sink cover. It used to be one piece but from late 2017 onwards (I believe) it was split into two, which is useful.

I’m sure some Ocean/SE owners will be able to offer more advice, but good luck with the search. They are great vehicles :thumb

I wouldn’t normally tell people to spend more but in this case ai would.
A t6.1 comes with a lot of kit - LED headlights, sat nav, reversing. Camera etc that was optional on earlier vans.
Do your sums and see if a drive the deal stock vw in conjunction with the vw Interest free offer may actually workoutcheaper. Do t forget that a new van would come with first years tax, 5 years servicing & warranty included.
