Good Evening All.

I have been waiting for over a month for my renewal quote to arrive from LV, having already received a letter like other forum members stating they will not be renewing my insurance with them.
I had previously spoke to a number of advisors regarding this situation as I have been insured with LV since 2018 from new.
More recently I spoke to a advisor named Lloyd who apparently was one of the team that was dealing with the underwriters,
about the description when offering policies to campervan owners.
As other forum members have stated there California’s like ours had been listed as a motor campervan.
Ours has now been re categorised as a Vw California T30 Ocean 204 BHP BMT AUTO.
I have now received a renewal quote as we are on a multi car policy it is slightly lower than last year, but I phoned and asked for a improved
Quote, The Advisor did inform me that they do not insure my vehicle, but when I explained it is on the system for the correct description my renewal quote reduced by a further £55.00.
I hope this post helps forum members who are insured with LV, as it is a must to get the proper description of any California or LV will
refuse cover.
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL FORUM MEMBERS AND THE ADMIN TEAM.

Very helpful, many thanks.
For clarity, how did you establish the acceptable format of the vehicle description and, in your example, the descriptors to include?
For example, my Cali is MY23 150 Ocean automatic. What would the acceptable format look like, do you think?
Again, thanks.

Hi KevH.
In my case, I personally spoke with a few advisers when I received the initial letter of refusal, Only when I spoke with this chap named Lloyd and explained my problem he then went the distance for me and went all the way through what they have on camper vans on there system, as previously said by other forum members you have to state it is a factory built product and not a van conversion.
He did however inform me he was on a team dealing with making sure that the correct information was being placed on the system, as the underwriter ‘s have decided to stream back there risks.
As Welsh Gas as posted above I would suggest try that.
Some advisers in my opinion can’t be bothered, but I personally would ask to speak to someone higher , without being rude.
Hope this helps.
Also I went online before Xmas to try and get a quote after filling in everything after about half an hour only to be sorry we can not quote you, so annoying so was very pleased with the conclusion I received with LV.

Hi. Like you I'm with LV and have been with them for a few years. I got my renewal quote on 10th Dec - about a month before the renewal date. California is described on their docs as 'VW California T30 Ocean TDI 150 Auto'. Hope that may help someone.

Hi PhillM.
Great result for you, if you have not already renewed it is well worth a try to get the premium reduced, I tried and got a £55.00 discount, worth a phone call?
