We are on our way home after 4 weeks in France only to find that we cannot raise the roof because the control button has failed. Fortunately the roof is closed and we are on our way home so we have had, or will have just 3 nights with the roof down, which is not too bad, but not too brilliant for Mrs DoH who has a bad back.
Although our van is 7 years old the roof control has hardly been used. We usually travel to a spot and stay for some time so, this year the roof has been raised while camping just 7 times, hardly heavy wear. Much the same in other years. Worse, 6 months after we bought it the roof button failed and was repaired under warranty. I buy a quality van and get failure so I am not too happy.
The instructions on what to do if this happens are extremely complicated, and, from what I have read of others on the Forum, totally impractical.
So, my choice on getting back to Hampshire is to speak to SMG about the cost of repair and also to see if the club know,of anyone who specialises in fixing the replacement knob that the club supply?
I would be grateful for any information to help. Apologies if this is in the wrong forum.
