Someone has taken out my near side mirror - luckily it looks like it is just the mirror cap and the the lower section that runs along the underside. I can see how the mirror cap fits (I think, but cannot see how to access the two or three screws that hold the lower section in place. The rim that runs around the leading place is intact as is the glass.

Two questions - how do the standard black ones look our Cali is starlight blue so pretty dark anyway)?
Has anyone got instructions for fitting the upper and lower section of the cap(s) and / or any advice?

Never what you want to come home to find.....

I'm not sure you can just replace parts on the VW mirror unfortunately. The coloured cap comes as part of the complete assembly, primed to be colour matched. £350 about I'm afraid.

Would love to be proven wrong.

As WG says about £350. That's what it cost us to have the drivers side replaced. Not a good design in my opinion as they only allow for impact from the front. If bumped from the back (ie mirror side) it breaks the mounting and has to be replaced.

Don't panic, I think they are the same as T5. Should check. The mirror glass is bonded to a plastic backing, Just hook your fingers around the edge of the mirror glass and pull, it should pop off. The parts are available and not very expensive, the painting costs the money.

I recently asked for a price for the coloured cover part of the mirror and was quoted £72 by Breeze. Assuming I had explained what I was after clearly and their parts dept were looking at the right bit, it sounded reasonable, in fact possibly too good to be true!

Good find.:thumb

Thanks all:thumb. Mirror was fine (the joy of daylight) and new covers popped on. I went for the black not coded as can see it happening again. They are not as pretty as the original but happy to have it fixed. I have only done 4k miles so it still felt new:headbang
