My T6.1 (in New Zealand) doesn’t have that black stub aerial (see picture). What’s it for in UK/Europe vehicles?

Can anyone tell me what the purpose that little stub aerial on T6.1 Oceans is (per the attached photo of my instruction manual front cover). I’m guessing they’re flat/round version of the “shark fin” aerials you see on some BMW’s and Mercedes? My roof is completely blank. But when I was in Europe and the UK over the Christmas holidays, I noticed they all have them. I’m just curious. What do they do? Is there some functionality that I’m not getting since I don’t have one installed? I only ask because I live in New Zealand, and mine does not have one. Thank you.

In the EU all new vehicles have an Emergency SOS system for Accident/Breakdown. This was a EU directive. Also, in more modern vehicles software updates can be done over the mobile phone system. Most new vehicles have a rooftop aerial system or something similar.
