I don't disagree, though our local favourite day walking spot is NT and we can let them run free, off lead.We find them good but simply too restrictive for dog owners in my area. If we didn't have dogs we would still be members and we will probably join again at some point.
Once you get to the coast we found it becomes very good value of money. We used it more in Devon on a 2 week holiday than the rest of the year at home put together, simply because of dogs being allowed at so many places.
All done, good luckStoneybroke junior is in his final year at Cumbria University, studying Animal Conservation Science, and has gained the cooperation and agreement of National Trust to focus on some of their sites, including a survey.
No doubt many Cali-clubbers venture to NT sites around the country, so if you do perhaps you could find a few minutes to do the survey -

Thanks in advance.
Yes, he's trying to look at the balance between wildlife conservation and access, where, inevitably, the money from the access pays for the conservation, however the access/use can undo the conservation.Done, interesting survey with some difficult choices
Thanks DM@Stoneybroke i hope your son got enough responses. The over-commercialisation of the NT is a hot topic at the moment it seems. We stayed at the NT caravan site at Ilam Country Park last night - very nice albeit a bit pricey. But it seems that £52K surplus isn't enough for the Trust. They intend to close the site to enlarge the car-park to accommodate 600 cars. No doubt a subsequent application will then be made to enlarge the tea room and shop to service as well. It's a tricky subject. Is increasing the car park capacity about increased access or increased revenue?
