New California on it’s way

Just been notified that our Ocean has completed build and is on it‘s way! It’s a 150 dsg in white, but we plan to re spray to two tone as VW had withdrawn the option when we ordered. Will add a couple of weeks to delivery but will be worth the wait. We’ve got a little list (actually not so little) of all the bits and pieces we think we’re going to need and I finally think we can start buying. Really excited and thinking about where to go first. The adventure begins.

What colour? Thought about wrapping our candy white Cali but chickened out. Should think a proper spray would be expensive but the best way to go, unless you know somebody in the trade.

Bay leaf green. You’re right, not cheap, but relative to the cost of a new California, not too expensive. We have also thought about reupholstering as the quality of some of the finishes does let it down a bit, but may be a thing too far!

Proper paint has other advantages too - I notice a lot of insurers are very "wrap averse", as long as the V5 reflects the colour (no idea how they record two tone vehicles anyway - the "majority" colour I assume?) I expect less hassle.

If it's just left the factory, probably around 1 month to collection.

They look good, would be interested in how much it is when you find out. When we were at the caravan show earlier this year looking at conversions, they were suggesting the leather added between £2000 - £3000.

My Ocean was 2 tone and the V5 just referenced the lower colour. My Grand Cali is the same.

I wanted lighter coloured seats, so it didn't seem sop dark grey in there whilst camping, and was also concerned to protect the seats.
I had mine covered (rather than reupholstered) by Individual Auto Design in Wigan (I think they supply the club shop). Really fantastic, cost about £900 fitted but of course I still have the new seats beneath, so 2 for one? They are designed to allow airbag deployment.

Same here - copper bronze factory 2tone with white on top is listed as ‘bronze’ by DVLA
