Hi all,

Just purchased a 1995 California Exclusive in green with 110k miles on the clock.

Had the van serviced straight after purchase and got the mechanic to give the van a good look over. I was pleased to find the chassis and underneath were in great condition for its age and other than a wheel bearing and a new section of exhaust we are good to go. I drove the van 350 miles home and she cruised lovely at 100kph all the way.

I’d love to hear from any Exclusive owners of any places you’ve found to replace or fix faulty items.

Mine seems to be in good condition inside but there are a few things that need addressing.

I need a new seal for the large push out cassette window behind the drivers seat. Previous owner bodged a seal that is nowhere near correct.

The Eberspatcher works but, I would like to get it serviced and the little timer controller in the dash by the blowers, has a button missing.

The small window in the bathroom, has been bodged to fit the arm into the window with a rawplug.

My partner loves driving the van but she is struggling with the speedo being in KPH only. I’d love to get a mph/kph one.

The mattress in the high top is a bit thin and the fabric is worn on the edges (just like me when I was 29). I’ve thought about a mattress topper but would rather fit a new upgraded mattress. Anyone done this?

Also need a topper that fits behind the rear of the lower bench/bed too.

Any thoughts help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Andy

Leave the clocks alone and get a GPS driven Speedo from Amazon or AliExpress for a few quid

I upgraded my upper mattress in my Club Joker to a 7.5cm Fanello Click Mattress custom made to fit. Very very pleased. If you are ever coming to Switzerland I highly recommend it. Speak with Ady.

Their marketing slogan is “Gut im bett” after all!

Will take a photo later this evening. With my kids at an autumn fair

Very much appreciated. I’ve had a Quick Look at the website and looks like a possible solution.

Enjoy the Autumn fair

This is the one I got, custom made with 2 separate pieces. Not sure how the bed is in the Exclusive but Ady can measure it perfectly. He produces it onsite in a few days.

Yes the folding design looks good. I’ve seen similar but with straight edges and a piece of fabric to act as a hinge. Never seen a wedge design before.

This Facebook group is a bit more specialised towards the T4 Westy vans and may offer more help. Link does seem to take you there despite the bland appearance.

Attached some photos. Note that I leave the sheet on so it's easy to setup when we want to sleep. That section is completely detached from the other 2/3's so the bed folds and slides away.

Very smart set up that and looks very comfortable too. Thanks for taking time to take the photos, it’s very much appreciated.

Just one question though. In your earlier post with the cad drawing from the website you mentioned yours was a two section mattress. Is one of the sections smaller? In one of the photos it looks like the mattress is almost fully out, yet there is still a fold in the end section.

Yes, mine is a 2 section mattress. They took my original 5cm mattress and used it as a template to make the new 7.5cm one. This is why the shop SKU show's as "custom". They can design it to be identical to the original measurements for any van.

I had them do that smaller section as 2 pieces with one 5cm and the topper as 2.5cm just in case it wouldn't fit when sliding into a closed position so I could remove the 2.5cm piece and store it on top of the folded front section if required, but it works just fine (although a little snug) without doing so and it would have been ok with 7.5cm all around. The front section is 7.5cm thick.

Haha haven’t had my first cuppa of the day yet (late night and day off) think I understand now.

Essentially the sliding bed requires that the smaller section fits underneath the front section when in a closed position. Again, this is in my Club Joker and I am not clear on how the Exclusive Cali bed is. At the end of the day it works fine with 7.5cm anyway but I went this route to be sure as the original mattress was 5cm. If I did it again I'd have both sections in 7.5cm.

Sorry for the delay, I’ve been driving long distance. Yes that makes sense. Seems like a great solution.
Thanks for all your help again.
