This is my first post having joined the VW California club tonight, we have been a camping family for a few years and had some great holidays under canvass but we decided to take the plunge and ordered our California Ocean T6 150 auto in Starlight blue last July. We were told that it would be at least a six month wait and boy was Craig our VW salesman right! Anyway good news that our van is in VW language at status 39 to the rest of us it's in Grimsby waiting to get to North Wales. We've been to the NEC today and have commenced our shopping list of things for the van and the levels of excitement is high and rising.......

. We will be using our Cali (once its here) for family trips too.

Was the NEC trip worthwhile? Been thinking of heading up there at the weekend but its a 3 hr trip up from the Coast for us.

You won't regret it.

Yes - you need some essentials but don't get too carried away too quickly. Manage with what you have from camping for the first few trips and then you'll be able to make much more reasoned decisions as to what you need (want) to buy. Lots of advice on here but everyone is different so work out what's right for you.

Thanks Jayne, we're glad we went just to get ideas, see awnings attached to vans and get some advice. It took us a few hours by train but it was worth the trip and one day doesn't seem to be enough to see everything

Welcome Robyn and to echo some of the sage advice given above, don't buy too much too quickly

Tow most crowded room in our house is Alberts cupboard, stuffed full of bits and pieces, essentials when bought and useless accessories when first used, if used at all.
