New VW California - Diesel or Plugin

test drove both the Diesel and Hybrid, going to test drive petrol today
thanks for every ones input think i am leaning toward Petrol
the price difference between diesel and hybrid i cannot justify
although there is a £3000 price difference between diesel and petrol i am thinking smoother quieter more power and non of the Diesel issues as i will be using it as a daily as well as trips away

see what deals i can get and delivery times :)

Have you ever had a hybrid. Once you have you never will again. On long distances they are less fuel efficient than their single fuel equivalents and the hybrid on short journeys becomes problematic for the batteries as they don’t charge effectively. Diesel every time get one whilst you can.
Not all Hybrids are equal. Have you ever driven the VW Multivan Hybrid drivetrain?

What mpg are you getting?
I saw figures of 30 to 40mpg.
I’ll be mainly 80% M’way.

Would disagree. The in-laws had a Rav4 hybrid for 3 years, not my choice of car but it was very efficient for a large vehicle + no chance of DPF issues which seem now to be affecting alot of later vehicles.

DPF is the devil port of (couldn’t give any) f**** when I block up and cause you vast amounts of cash to be extracted from you.

Petrol is the way to go.
Just wish LR would allow a petrol 110 defender to have 7 seats.
How stupid is that, can only spec a diesel with 7 seats. Not even the Octa can have 7 seats.
So wifey will have to have a new car every 3 years as extended warranty will not cover short journeys and blocked DPF. She does 5k a year.
