Been with NFU for eight years , renewal time. Have multi car policy. Have 2015 BMW series 3 sport Estate and and New Ocean 6.1 Total quote £ 1,395 Is this about average , too much, good deal ? BMW £586.36. Ocean £806.00 - minus bonus £1,395.69. Opinions welcome.

Insurance is so dependent on precise circumstances so its hard for anyone to comment on the overall value of the offer. All i can say is that seems like a lot for the Cali based on my experience. I also had a 3 series estate that cost me around £500 with full NCD. I then got the Cali and pay £350 insuring it separately with Comfort - no discount. So the relative pricing you have been offered just seems a bit off. I wonder if multicar really works when one vehicle is a Cali - thats quite a specialist market.

Thanks , we are quite rural , no past convictions, claims etc. will start searching tomorrow. Was with Comfort years ago then went NFU because Comfort insisted I have a tracker installed.

No requirement for a tracker for me with Comfort. Maybe they have changed underwriters. Might be worth trying them again.

All insurance is legal extortion.
By law you must have it.
But others who don’t, get off with a light fine. How’s that work ?
I have NFU for house and MY24 Defender.
Churchill for other cars under £10k

I used to be with NFU seemed a very good company but they just became too expensive. Been with LV since. No problems but never had to claim though.

LV were really good and VW Coventry Bodyshop were on their “list”
Had a new tailgate and sprayed 2x colours bronze and white on a MY20 Cali Ocean.
All payed by LV.

For a camping vehicle it’s all about a policy that’s tailored for habitability and for the carrying and using of gas - it may be well worth checking the small print. Otherwise a claim may be declined.

We’re with Comfort who’s coverage looked suitable when I read it.
Previously we were with Clubcare which subsequently didn’t work for us at the third renewal as they insisted that our property needed to be gated. Apparently the steering wheel lock, ghost immobiliser, plus the £2,000 we’d already spent on Rhino bollards (previously approved by them) specifically to protect the ‘Van, apparently, no longer cut it. Although it would certainly be worth me trying them again at the next renewal in case their position changed - we haven’t.

It seems that Aviva are the main underwriters for them which is ironic as Aviva refused to cover me (12 year customer with cars) because I wouldn’t keep the Cali in the garage. They also insisted on a Tracker.
Went to Comfort and no tracker or garage required - however at £810 it was a no.

Almost got out with this.
Stupidly using Comoarison sites to get quotes and was quite happy with my £32/month quotes - until someone pointed out the same as you. Had a claim been made - whether on the habitation side or not - they could wriggle.
I’m sure (with a fight) you’d win as they have the full description of the vehicle on file but I wouldn’t want to chance it or play that game.
Sadly first years insurance with a Camper is costing me £700!!

Isn't that only 10% of the market value of the vehicle? And you are probably using it everyday at peak times, which increases the risk.

I getcha, but it was a total shocker after paying £32 a month for a 68K Volvo, and seeing OP's quotes of £400.
I've lightened the shock by just paying the annual up front rather than monthly.

I pay £650+ for a motorhome, 5000 miles per year, pleasure only with 18 years NCB, and it has a tracker, but that was the cheapest

I moved from Saga in 2022 to NFU due to premium increase, and their premium has kept below £350pa.
Currently 5000 miles pa, sdp, self and spouse.
