No cab blinds

I can't find any cab blinds in the van so I need to buy some. From what i can see the door are magnetic? There seemes to be a few different types fore the screen?
Could anyone tell me the best type i need to fit my 2007 van please or maybe aftermarket ones are better, and where I can buy them from thanks

The Brandrup Isolite ones are what many people use. They're not cheap but work well. Also, I have seen often on this forum, people posting custom made ones with all kinds of lovely patterns and colours. Not cheap either but nice. I don;t remember the brand, but I'm sure some other member will come along soon and can tell you.

If you can get a set of the original cloth magnetic ones for the doors I would. I bought a set from eBay for my Westfalia.

My 2006 has the integrated ones, the alternative was a piece
of cloth and a few sticks. My side -front- blinds are also cloth
but with a flexible magic rod inside.
I agree with Arun Alec, try to get an original set.
Unless thats not your thing.

We have bought the Brandrup Isolite set for windscreen and 2 side windows. They’re better at blacking out, and insulation against condensation. The only down side is they’re not as easy to fold and pack away - we keep them in the roof as they’re quite thin and don’t cause an issue closing the roof.
When parked up in a town etc we sometimes use the VW ones to act as sun blinds.

We bought the external thermoscreen from Just Kampers and are very happy with it. Using the internal magnetic screens supplied with the Cali we experienced a good deal of condensation - with this none at all. It also can be used to keep the van cooler in hot weather.

There are a few sets of the magnetic side window blinds on eBay at the moment, but not cheap.

I'd second using external blind/cover as they are fairly easy to fit, door windows can be slightly open for ventilation and provide insulation.

We bought a Rainbow external cover after recommendations on here. Its a lovely bit of kit and fits very well.

However, after using it up in Glencoe a few weeks ago, I have the following observations:-

1. If you want to move/drive the van each day, then it has to be removed and if wet its a pain to handle.
2. You cant open the front doors with it fitted, unless you unzip (velcro) the front panel. And even then it seems to put strain on the door panels.
3. Its bulky to store and handle (especially if wet, see above).

So, for the majority of the time we are very happy with the factory cloth side blinds and front interior blinds. It might be easier to use the external blind in better weather when everything is dry, but in the cold and wet its easier to manage the interior blinds for us.

I use summer blind normally which is easy to wipe dry if necessary and folds small enough to fit in chairs, in tailgate.
Winter grade one when temp. requires which is bulkier but does double as a blind and insulation.

Yes, good point. If the OP has no blinds at all (I assume not even the front screen blinds) it would be expensive to retrofit the front factory blinds.

With your lightweight exterior blind can you open the front doors..? Its something we seem to do quite often when pitched up, not sure why...! Where did you get your lightweight blind from..?

Thanks for all the advise guys. Im not too fussed about having original blinds really especially if they include scene tax. The Isolite inside ones look good. Ive also looked at the rainbow external covers, theres a few cheap on ebay which I'm tempted with.
Will keep an eye on ebay and here incase a genuine set pops up at the right money.

I find they allow too much light through. Aftermarket magnetic blackout blinds would be better, but I use an external cab screen

With you there! I have the original cloth/rod cloth blinds. Not that easy to pack away, but they store into a small bag that is easily stored under the bench. We've had a few splits in the pockets which the rods are pushed into but they are easy to sew up. Love them!

Yes they are pricy, but they are beautfully made, they just snap into place instantly, so great for a fast set up. Plus the fabric is super waterproof on the window side so they don't seem to get wet with condensation, so no need to dry damp blinds. They also keep the van warmer or cooler in Sumer or winter. They are great

Sounds good! I did go on to order some but its a german site and you cant actually order them.

With you there! I have the original cloth/rod cloth blinds. Not that easy to pack away, but they store into a small bag that is easily stored under the bench. We've had a few splits in the pockets which the rods are pushed into but they are easy to sew up. Love them!

We leave ours erected and pop them up into the bed before putting the roof down - good space and time saver IMO
