Organising the new van

Could you list the bits please? Hope to be doing something similar in a few months

Those back boxes are really useful, as at a pinch, they can be left outside of the van in the rain, with their nice raised rain shedding lids.

the big boxes are KLÄMTARE, with the small ones in the side and under the kitchen being a mixture of kuggis and VARIERA boxes. The bedding bag is a large tostero outdoor furniture cover. We also use the skub shoe boxes for clothes packing for the 4 of us in the wardrobe and a couple of skubb organisers in the drawer. Most of it looks like it was made to fit!

Yeh that’s what we thought, we will probably have the lids off when camping and they are in the boot but it gives us the option to leave them out if needs be

We also have ikea ROSENSKÄRM pillows that fit perfectly for the downstairs bed and all the shelf’s have ikea rubber matting cut to fit. Probably all cost less than a single brandrup accessory!

The best general advice for newbies (apart from don't buy ANYTHING until you've had the van out a few times) is to stow stuff that you'll be using inside the van only in the places you can get at it from inside the van (ie in the cupboards draw etc or at a pinch on the rear shelf). And the stuff you'll use outside the van, like ramps, hookup cables, BBQ gear, under the rear shelf which of course if only really accessible by going out and opening the tailgate. And that includes the little side cupboards at the rear, unless you're expecting to lower the bench seat back into a bed as soon as you stop every evening.

That sounds obvious, but I've been entertained to read first-trip reports from new owners who had to durdle around outside in the pi$$ing rain in their jimjams in the dark to get something out of the "boot".

Yeh solid advice that’s how we have packed it :thumb We have done 3 separate camping trips now and have evolved all the stuff storage after each trip starting with just the van and some ramps and a gas bottle!

If you're anything like us you'll continue to evolve the packing list as long as you have the van. So far it's generally been two items consigned to the cellar for every new thing acquired.

Although actually we do always leave some space in the van for things bought on the way. On latest trip it was boxes of wine and some pottery from an Italian junk market. We find an old-school picnic-type hamper stowed on the back shelf excellent for breakables like that:
