parking sensors after rear bumper replacement

Someone backed into the rear bumper: the bumper and one sensor + bracket that holds it had to be replaced. The repair shop (authorized by my VW dealer) did a diagnostics test on the parking sensors after the work was completed but did not realize it had a park assist system. When I picked up the van and drove it seemed fine. When I reversed into my driveway, I got spurious warnings that did not make sense. I took it back to the shop and as we discussed the problem they realized they had not done a reset and run a diagnostics test on the 'park assist system'. Once they did that everything seemed to be working well again.
