We were going to travel to the Alps this year but I have written off any chance of heading abroad during the summer holidays now.

So, as my uncle lives in Pen-y-bont in Carmarthen, we are hoping to head to Pembrokeshire for a 4/5 days in early August.

Can anybody suggest any campsites to stay at and places to see that they could recommend?

Cheers.

At the rate the Welsh Assembly is releasing us from Lockdown you may not be able to travel there. We’re only upto 5 miles from home so far.

Hi. Is it for a family, couple, single? What do you enjoy and what would you like to do? We visit regularly - give me a few clues and I’ll drop a few suggestions to you.

We stayed at a cottage in Pembrokeshire a few years ago and thought it was lovely - like Cornwall but without the crowds. Can’t recommend any campsites but can highly recommend a trip to St David’s. We also did a lot of coastal path walks with beautiful scenery and saw lots of wildlife including seals - I bought a Pathfinder book of walks. There are also some amazing beaches like Barafundle

We ars a family of 5, one teenage boy (14) and 2 young girls (6 & 8) really just looking for picturesque villages, good beaches and a nice campsite.
If we could find somewhere with an indoor pool for a night or two, that would be a real bonus.
I’m sure its all lovely but didn’t want to miss somewhere that is a must see!

edit:
A nice Beach that we could get the van right down too would also be great. We like to chill in the van whilst the kids burn off a bit of energy!

Thank you for the Beach and village recommendation..

A rose by any other name
Get real
Why the negativity?
What ??? I was just - helpfully - letting them know what the correct name was so they could find it, why on earth is that negativity. Looks like you got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning.....

Whitesands bay, near St David’s, campsite on beach, Newport campsite overlooking beach, Mwnt beach campsite by there also , places worth seeing, Bosherton Lakes, St David’s,Solva, Fishguard, Cardigan, as stated before it’s like Cornwall without the crowds

Hia, on the way down or back, you may want to stop at one of the most incredible campsites overlooking Three Cliffs beach on the Gower, regularly in the Times top 10 beaches in the world. Only 30 mins off the M4 by Swansea. By the way Gower is quite simply stunning, the variety of landscapes is unbelievable, vast sandy beaches, little coves, huge limestone cliffs and salt marshes all on a small peninsula 20 miles long.....

Yesterday Mark Drakeford said in an interview that Wales would remain largely closed to tourists this summer with only self contained non shared accommodation potentially opening later in the summer. Personally I think you should forget about camping in Wales this year and book somewhere in England whilst you can.

Maybe you’re right.
Oh well, if we’re not allowed it won’t be too much of a problem.
I’ll just decide nearer the time on when and where to go.

As at the moment things not good in Wales, from what we understand today it sounds like it is going to be a NO NO for campsites or they might open but NO toilet facilities !
As said we can only go 5 miles from our homes, Dyfed Powys police having a
' field day ' fining people coming into Wales and then escorting them out of there area !
But do keep an eye on this post for any new developments....

Apologies Rowls, I thought you were being pedantic, seen as I had posted a link to the site as well, with the correct details on it.

I misunderstood your intention

One agin I’m sorry :cheers

I see what you mean, I only saw the response post so didn't notice the link - seems we both misunderstood

Although it looks like Wales is no go for this summer I still would like to recommend for another year our favorite place called Marloes. The camp site we go to is West Hook farm, quite basic but that's what we like and it has amazing sea views. To us it's one of the best places to go anywhere. You have two stunning beaches to choose from, both within walking distance, an amazing small cafe on the cliffs above Marloes sands which opened up a few years ago in a beautiful old out of use National Trust hostel, an island with puffins on which you can get to, the village of Dale which is very nearby with its safe sailing, canoeing, swimming and lovely pub and then there's tons of fabulous walks. We've been going for 20 years and our 3 boys who are all now grown up and flown the nest still want to go back there and we can't wait to get back there again as well. Hopefully we can take our new California if it arrives soon and if we are eventually allowed into Wales before the season ends?

West Hook looks really nice, that’s one in the note book for the future
