Hi. Our Ocean is on the drive. Pop top dropped a bit yesterday. I raised it. Today it dropped to intermediate position. Have just raised it again and will keep an eye on it. It us very hot at present, but it happened in cool weather last month. Any thoughts, please. Obviously, I'll be contacting dealer.

The change in temperature causes a change in the fluid pressure.

Try lowering to mid position and raising again to full height. Do this 4 or 5 times.

After raising keep the button pressed until the pump stops running.

Thanks for the reply. I'll give that a go.

I've done the lower raise 6 times no fix.

Mine currently being evaluated at the dealers. Happened a lot in temperatures in France and Germany. But plenty of other Cali's that didn't seem affected.

Rams, seals in rams, seals in pump. New rams maybe new pump if they accept it.

Don’t bother with the rams - the problem is the seals in the pump. Have a search for old posts on here.

Well, so much for evaluation. Been told it's normal so asked them to escalate to VW.

I read it took you 6 months to get this fault on yours recognised. Was that pushing the dealership or VW Customer Services or Executive office?

Whilst in hot temperatures, ours was sagging all the time. Here's what it was like after an hour one day.

I didn't have a problem getting them to recognise it as a fault, it was just the timescale due to getting it booked in, first fix attempt, go home try it out, book in for next appointment etc as they had to go through various (cheaper) fixes before they got round to the pump .

The most important thing though was to get a courtesy vehicle, then they have an interest in getting your van back to you.

I pushed the dealer - note only the first dealer that started the repair can finish it, no-one else will touch it.

I then pushed VW customer services for compensation due to disrupted holiday, lost weekends away etc & came to an agreement with some vouchers. Not a huge value in monetary terms but enough to feel like they cared.
The Dealer then gave me full discount on what I bought with the vouchers which increased their value significantly.
