Hi everyone

I'm looking for help please. I needed to change the button on the control panel, usual fault with the button, before I got round to changing it. I started getting roof up showing on the screen & the audiable noise would sound. I put this down to the button needed to be changed.
I've now changed the button, the roof open icon is showing open on the control panel, the roof is fully closed, but I'm unable to get the roof mode to do anything at all. Everything else is working fine.
Can anyone help at all please? Any suggestions will be gratefully received.

Firstly it would help to know which vehicle /year you have?

Check Control Panel for any diagnostic codes.

Check Control Panel Diagnostics.

Control Panel Off and wait 30 secs

Control Panel On

Press and Hold R lower button and then press Control Knob for 5 secs.

New Hidden Menu . Scroll to VW Diagnostics.

If there are any codes shown, take note and then Reset/Clear.

Return to Main Menu.

Switch Off Control Panel using L lower button. Wait 30 secs and Switch On.

Try Roof/Heater or Fridge

It's a 2017 T6 Ocean. Thanks for tip, I'll try later. I can sort the problem without a trip to VW

I'm getting fault 1000, looking at other threads, It's the sensors. It seems you can change these yourself or a trip to VW or a VW specialist. Any recommendations in the Midlands please?
How do I get the roof up to be able to do this? Any help very much appreciated. As I might attempt this job myself.
Thanks
Pete

The closed roof may be opened by applying power to one pin of the 2 pin connector block at the rear of the Control Panel. Using a 30 amp fused lead from +tve pole battery. One pin opens roof other closes.

Thank you for your help. Need to look into this a bit more before I decide on if its a DIY job or garage

Hi everyone.

I'm about to attempt to change these roof sensors. I need to get the roof up first, I read somewhere you can do this by powering up via the wiring loom from the control panel. I can't find that thread where ivread this & I'm unsure which part I put the power too. Does anywhere know? Or point me to a YouTube video please.

Thanks in advance for any info & help.

Isn't that what @WelshGas explained two replies above your question?

Had no luck with the power option. Went with the manual one. I've released the hydraulic screw, still can't push the roof up. It feels as though there's some sort of locking mechanism on the drivers side(UK)& the passenger side isn't moving at all.
Help Please!!

Sorry, I thought it was further down the thread. I was scrolling past it
That's what I tried & nothing happened, that's why I was checking I was doing the right thing.

If the roof has been closed using the normal method then the roof rams lock the roof down and the only way to get them to retract enough to unlock the roof is to directly power the roof pump via the two way black connector.

I'm afraid the only way to open the roof is by operating the pump as I explained. Releasing the Hydraulic screw will not work.

I've tried that & nothing. Sounding like a complete idiot, when you say 2 block black connector, are you referring to the one from the control panel? Or am I missing something?

Yes, it goes from the motor to the Control Panel. Unplug from Control Panel. +tve wire from engine or leisure battery to one of the connections of the plug. 1 will raise roof and other will close roof.

Thank you for confirming. That's what I'm trying to do, but nothing is happening, well apart from hot wires & abit of smoke! Maybe I need a better probe? absolutely nothing from the pump motor. I appreciate everyone's help, you've probably better things to be doing!

no not this one !

It is a substantial connector with thick wires from the motor. See example picture below

Oh!! That'll be why. Best have a look for that then. Is it behind the foam?
Cheers

motor then.
Try to the side of the foam, the wire should poke out if the foam at the motor end
