Hello All,

Any advice if it’s possible to repair scuffs to the rear, apparently caused by attempting to remove the metal bed frame? Unsure if there is any bare metal underneath.

Picture shows a couple inside on the right hand side.

Thanks!

Maybe worth asking these people?

Thanks GrumpyGranddad.

Tis on sale at a dealer, and assuming the scuffs are superficial.

Or should I steer clear..?

Cheers

Superficial. You'll soon add your own if you buy it. It is a 2nd vehicle I presume so can't be in "as New" condition.

Thanks WelshGas,

It is 2nd hand/looking for its 2nd owner, and I’m sure I will!

Thought I’d be prudent in asking you knowledgeable people before jumping in with both feet as it were.

Diolch!

Fairly trivial scuffs which you should be able to disguise yourself.
I wouldn’t let the marks put you off if you like the van.
Maybe the dealer has a ‘trim specialist’ so you could ask them to fix it to secure the order? Worth a try.

Was thinking something similar along those lines GrumpyGranddad, but that’s a good approach.

They’re not willing to budge on the asking price in any way, let’s see how I get on.

Cheers again.

I would agree with GG, if you decide you are going to buy it, tell them you'll sign up if they sort any marks out. They may not budge on price but they'll want a sale, and if you are ready to sign on the dotted line that makes it much harder for them to say no to any repairs. They'll have a Smart repairer that they use, won't cost them much. Good luck and keep us posted...

Thanks PhilR.

Had a good chat with the sales person, not pushy and an honest open chat.

Sales person is going to enquire if they know anyone who does/performs such repairs, and realises I’m prepared to do a deal. Sales person mentioned the panel can be replaced, but at a cost which naturally won’t happen. Has a slight chip on the rear bumper so will ask if it can be touched up also.

Apparently a £1000 below asking offer was made last week and rejected, but they want it sold by month end.. More tomorrow..!

Cheers

Alas the Cali was sold by another sales person while I was in communication with my sales contact. :(

My search continues.....

I bet, but you’ll find another one.

Oh no, sorry to hear that. Demand is still sky high, but the weather is turning from tomorrow so that’s the end of the summer, so you’ll get more choice and less competition pretty soon. Plus it’s all part of the fun searching for the right vehicle!!

Calis seem to be selling quicker than houses around here!

Almost a month in and I thought I had found the one!

Fair point on the change from Summer to Autumn and weather… rich pickings hopefully, as it were.

I need the Cali hunting equivalent of a truffle pig/dog!

Cheers

Thats a shame but there will be more that come up.

I always find that the search for the right car and doing the deal is the
more exciting part. Although the Cali is a different beast, mine is actually
the best thing that i ever bought, so the chase to get it + owning it cannot be
matched.
Errm, only my view.
