What do people use to protect the rear boot shelf in a California Beach when the mattress is not in the van?

What are you protecting it from ?
do you carry something that will potentially damage the multiflex board?

I have just a simple waterproof sheet that I put over the back when the mattress is in or out, just to stop anything getting dirty.

If I was worried about scratching the multi board I'd probably put some felt down under it (the type you put on a table under a table cloth) just for an extra layer of protection.

If I've transporting something special, then out come the old bedsheets to pad around as appropriate!

We were thinking of driving to Europe without staying in the van overnight and was intending to use the shelf for suitcases.

The mattress is usually in the van 24/7 and we have a rubber mat that sort of stops it sliding around but doesn’t really cover the shelf.

Just wondered if there was a purpose-made cover for it.

The multiflex board can be removed fairly easily !

We use a cut to size piece of plumbers sheet, the plastic backed cotton sort. Cheap as chips, weighs nothing, and protects the shelf and mattress.

Try a standard fitted sheet for baby beds, waterproof or not up to you. Fits really well, cheap and easy. IKEA has a good assortment.
