Rear air vent stuck in closed position

Rear air vent stuck in closed position - I am sure I've seen recent thread with regards the same problem but cannot find it - any solutions as to the problem , where the thread is and if all else fails how to remove the vent.

Do you mean the „Reimo“ Air Vent? Mhm

Assume yours is a 2017 (profile says 2107)? If so go back to dealer, don't dismantle .
I found the vent control very tight but a bit of silicone spray helped

It appears this has happened on a few vans - there is a mention on vw california community Facebook page where dealerships have replaced all 3 rear vents in at least 2 cases - wonder whether this is a known fault with a particular batch of vents - my van is registered oct 2017 (now correctly updated profile)
