New to us Cali, according to records had a genuine VW rear coil spring replaced just over 2.5 years ago.

Cali has only done 6,000 miles since and spring is broken again!

1) Is there anything that could be causing it, apart from bad luck. I know the cali sat for a bit not being used.

2) Does anyone know the correct part number? I’m going to replace both rear springs. I understand there are 1, 2 or 3 stripe versions but not sure what these relate to exactly.

Any leads for good used ones appreciated.

The Cali is a 2018 150bhp Ocean.

Many thanks.

The spring rating depends on a number of factors depending on your exact specification. Your springs should have a series of paint marks on them and should be visable (after a wipe with a cloth) - from memory our 4Motion has two green and one grey stripe on the rears (but this is purely memory) - I bought a spare new van set from eBay that someone had taken off a new van after one of our rear springs broke after 18 months and the dealer wanted a ridiculous amount to replace and obviously refused to accept that is was covered by warranty. I changed both rears even although only one had broken, but that is my motorsport mindset.

Both springs are replacements, so not sure if they were like for like when they were replaced.

I’ll have a look for the marks.
