Just had my 17 plate Ocean serviced and the rear washer feed is leaking through the rear headlining This is not covered by the warranty I took out so i am faced with a bill to fix which invloves removing the kitchen etc and reinstalling with a gas safe inspection and about 2 days labour!!! Has anyone else had this happen to them. Now gooing to challenge VW through Customer Relations but not optimistic.

Sorry, but I'm confused. The rear washer tubing passes to the rear via the plastic trim, with the lights in, above the kitchen, throught the wardrobes to the rubber gator connecting tailgate to body. There is a connector inboard of the rubber gator.. I don't see why they have to remove the kitchen units.
Can you post any photos of the headlining affected

did they say it's leaking ? did you notice anything leaking ? does the pipe run behind the kitchen ? it can't do can it, or it wouldn't leak into the head lining. they are taking the p1ss.2 days !!!! kitchen out !!! you are looking at a bill of around a brass band there. say no and take it away. either fix it yourself or go to a garage.i hardly ever use the rear washer anyway

I’m convinced there’s an in house challenge within the dealerships to see who can get away with the daftest solution to a problem!
It’s definitely the washer tube and not a leaking roof drain?

The water pours in through the headling into the rear roof storage bin. I have released the rubber gator and there is fabric trunking wrapped round the loom and pipes to the rear door Access is limited by trim which is trapped by the cupboards I agree it seems nonsense at first to take the whole kitchen out but looking at the construction it looks as if the cupboards have to come out to allow access to remove the upper trim rail. I can just get my hand in and cannot feel any junction but water comes out under pressure so something is disconnected or broken

Yes the leak is only when you operate the rear wash and then it is massive

This might help

As a 17 plate I assume it’s 5 years old so when you mention warranty you means an extended one. The 3 year warranty would have covered this (as long as they could not prove it was something you did) but the extended 2 years can be limited based on if you choose all component or named component cover - so will depend.

Might be worth getting hold of a borescope to have a look?
Any chance of getting to the pipe where access is easier and pulling in a length of new pipe to bypass the leak?

Might be worth looking at running a completely new pipe but on the other side so the kitchen is avoided…. Got to be better than 2 days labour and a kitchen out.
Ran my cable for the rear dash cam down that side (sliding door). Was a nightmare. Definitely recommend a cable rod set as an investment if you want to try!

The guys who fitted my dash cam used the same route which they reckoned from experience is easier than the kitchen side. I’d agree, better to run in a new tube.

I very much doubt a domestic Gas Safe fitter would be interested in a Cali gas installation. A caravan gas specialist would be better.

I'd be looking for an independent workshop, who know more about Cali interiors and charge a much more modest rate. If you can get across to near Matlock, send me a pm and I'll put you in touch.

Had same problem last year only in rear wardrobe next to fridge.
Bought set of cable rods from screwfix
10m of rubber tubing
2 x in line connectors
Fed cable connectors from rear of van, after removing rubber grommet at rear of van (remove A & B frame covers also light fittings over kitchen). Removing A &B covers enable the roof lining to be pulled down and access the cable rods to then pull through, when it pulls through, fasten rubber tubing to rear of cable of cable rod and pull through gently then connect to original rear wash pipe in the A frame do the same at rear grommet with in line connectors.
It took me and friend about 2 hrs to complete, very fiddly as cable rods had to be removed 3 or 4 times until they came through B frame.
Very satisfying when completed.
PS the corrugated tubing VW use has connecters along that run.

I would say the leak is at one of the joints. For some reason Volkswagen, Audi and others use short bits of tubing with joints to make up the run.
It might be better as jts46 states to run a complete new tube.
I had a similar problem on my Audi A6 and the joint was under a cover in the front passenger footwell. In this case I simply used self amalgamating tape to hold the connectors together.
It is a fairly common problem and I think it might be due to not using a strong enough screen wash in winter.

Strange mine just started poring into my wardrobe
