Can any give me a recommendation of place to stay in porthcawl area for a family

Unless you have particular reason to stay there, I wouldn't. A couple of huge caravan parks, but I'm not aware of any decent campsites.

I would also recommend the Show caves for Wales in the Swansea valley but looks like the toilet /shower block is closed.

I believe Happy Valley have a touring pitch but do your due diligence first as the rest of it is a huge static park.

Otherwise this nice pub in Southerndown about 5 miles away has a camping field with facilities.
