I realise the RNS-510 system is hardly up to date or current but I wonder if anyone has ever solved this issue.
I have tried having the map scale in auto but it is rarely detailed enough if you are not actively navigating. The ideal scale is manual at ‘400m’ as that shows all smaller roads, however the system seems to ‘zoom out’ at about 1or 2 notches between ignition cycles or days elapsed so if you open it after about a week it has often dropped back to 300 miles scale. (It doesn’t reset to auto, just 300 miles on manual) I have updated the software and maps a while ago but it was doing it prior to that.
An irritating 1st world problem but does anyone have any suggestions. Everything else on it does all I need. I have considered changing it but I don’t often use it for routing, I mainly have it open to make sure Google maps or Waze aren’t taking me on a wild goose chase, or to navigate when in a reception black hole.
