Roof Corrosion - limit of 6 year warranty

Does anyone know if the 6 year corrosion warranty is strictly enforced by VW in respect of the roof corrosion problem for a 2008 model?

If it is unregistered with VW by the end of the 6 years, I believe your chances are somewhere between Bob hope and no hope.

But the registration process has been a nightmare, with lists closing and reopening. A previous owner (I'm assuming its new to you?) may have done it, and you may be covered if you can track down the previous owners and get some details of conversations they held with VW.
