Run-away engine t6 tdi

Hello. I am experiencing a run-away issue with my engine today. The engine revs on its own from normal up to 6000 rpm on its own while I am driving along at 50 km/hr. Engine also sputtering with grey smoke coming out of the exhaust. Only started first thing this morning. Message display read 'Oil/Inspection Now'. I added half litre of oil. Any ideas. Hugh.

Does not sound good - did you not call VW customer assistance/breakdown? I would not drive it but get them to tow you to a VW dealer for warranty help.

Sounds like turbo has gone, do not drive it at all! If its running away its probably consuming its own engine oil! If you drive it any more it could run away to the point you can't turn it off and then wreck the engine.

Thanks guys. I have taken it to a be dealer and it is just inside the warranty.

It's a 2016? More than just in warranty surely?

I think in Europe there is only 2 year warranty on these, not 3 like uk?

One year warranty and one year right to claim (means you must give evidence upon fault).

Sounds like it used up its engine oil. Not good. Hope I am wrong.
