Hi folks

Started thinking about a trip to Scandinavia next Spring. We have never travelled there before but buoyed with the success of our France-Germany-Switzerland trip this year we thought we'd give it a go.

At present a rough itinerary looks like this:-
Eurotunnel
Amsterdam NL
Flensburg D
Copenhagen DK
Malmo S
Gothenburg S
Oslo N
Bergen N

and return via Brussels (family visit).

Planning to spend around 2 -3 weeks.

Any suggestions for "must-sees" en route or great stopover locations? I'm sure this will take quite a bit of research, but experienced viewpoints are welcomed.

Why Eurotunnel? Harwich to Hook of Holland overnight saves a lot of driving.

Some thoughts for Sweden (we just got back last week)

- When driving up from Malmo to Gotenberg, switch your sat nav to avoid the motorways, and try sleep by the sea sometimes

- Lake Vanern, about 2 hours north east of Gotenberg, beautiful

We travel up that way a lot (Danish wife) - think about a round trip by taking the ferry from Fredrikshavn (N Jutland) to Oslo (you get to see the Oslo Fjord that is amazing) and then back via the bridge into Copenhagen or vice versa. Aarhus in Jutland is the 2nd city in Denmark with much to see and do (inc the Danish lake district nearby) and a very chilled out vibe. Sweden is wonderful - check out timber rafting on the last logging river in Europe - here - https://www.vildmark.se/en/ and Stockholm and the islands a must see (many of the inter island ferries are free). Norway breathtaking - campsites good and most have hytte (wooden cabin) options for not much money in case you need to dry out for a night.
Pricing - In general Denmark close to UK prices (inc alcohol) so stock up there before getting to Norway and Sweden where prices are eye watering.
Hope this helps.
M
