Slight smell of gas - normal?

I bought a 907 canister a few weeks back and noticed a slight gas smell when I unscrewed the handle, is that normal? Also when I open the lid on the plastic gas tank to turn it on/off, I sometimes get a slight gas smell. Never smell anything in the van.

Is that normal?

I don't smell any gas on mine when I unscrew the plastic cover. I'm made to turn it off when traveling more than a couple of hours. So do it quite frequently.
No smells here.
