South of France or Spain in winter

We are looking to do a couple of weeks in the South of France and Spain in December and take in a few Christmas markets. Only problem we have is many campsites are closed so sadly we are now looking at hotels which seems a shame.

Anyone else camped this late in the year on the continent?

Sadly not, I have used the "Search for sites" app/website recently and found it to be very helpful in finding places to stay.

Not sure about France but we spend a lot of time in Spain (Malaga) for the winter. In December the weather is very nice in southern Spain. Starting about mid Jan. - Feb. and sometimes into early March it can be very wet and windy. There are some nice days but I'm not sure it would be ideal camping weather in those months.

December should be fine, we have been down there for December for the last 3 years and the weather has been very nice.
