We just booked our passage from Portsmouth to Santander in May and I wondered if anyone had recomendations for a camp site in the area. Also around the Valencia area. They are the only two planned ports of call at the moment but we think we may drive back through Switzerland. We probably won't be in Santander for more than the night but may hang out around the Valencia area a little longer.

We took the kids around Spain for 2 months in 2016 April to June. Spain is underrated.

Noja near Santander
campsite on best beach in Europe in my opinion.
Been back twice.
Camping Playa Joyel 1st Category
Playa del Ris, s/n, 39180 Noja, Cantabria, Spain

Near Valencia
Lovely campsite next to beach near small town. Good enough distance from main roads

Camping Playa Tropicana Castellón

Thanks for the info Guys. I can't believe how close some of these sites pack people in. I guess they don't worry about the good old 'you've got to be 6 metres from your neighbour rule'.

If you have bicycles with you than you should cycle in the old river bed in Valencia. The river was diverted and it is now a great place with gardens and museums. 10km each way. http://www.visitvalencia.com/en/what-to-visit-valencia/parks-gardens/turia-garden.

If yo want to visit the coast south of Valencia (1hr away) I can suggest Calpe.

This is a very central site but often fully booked

Also central

this slightly out of the town, not too far to walk

Also there are 3 other motorhome only sites but they are a bit like parking in a car park.

Thanks Barbara. We booked a few days in Kikopark just outside Oliva and may go further south before heading north again so a couple of the campsites are a possibility. The link to the river bed in Valencia doesn't seem to work but I searched Turia Gardens and it looked like a great trail (We will definitely have our bikes with us). Thanks again for everyone's suggestions.
