Storage of rear parcel shelf when seats pushed back

Hi all
has anyone come up with a creative solution to how to store the metal rear parcel shelf when rear seats are pushed back other than removing it altogether and leaving at home

Unfortunately, Will not work with the mattress on there.

We used to store it standing vertical in the boot with a small bungee tied to the headrest, but now we have a pullout drawer so more hassle so haven't done it lately.

I have the wooden parcel shelf and store it vertically. It fits just fine like that. Not sure if thats by luck or design though. The comfort mattress I store at home. It would be great if the shelf could fold or spilt in two so that it was a bit more manageable.

I store it under the van on the ground. Tried various ways to stow it inside, but all of them took up too much space or were too precarious
