I am trying to import a 28 year old T4 Cali from Jersey to France, Biarritz to be precise. It’s a nightmare! The latest problem is that VW issued only a certificate of Partial conformity because the old spirit cooker doesn’t comply with French normes. We have to have a new cooker fitted - either gas or electric. Money is getting tight so can anyone advise on the best and cheapest way to do this. We don’t cook in the van so it is purely to keep the authorities happy! Thanks in advance for your suggestions

Is the cooker unit incorporated with the Sink.? If not can you just take it out and not have one in the van.

Gas hobs are not that expensive anymore, So more a case of finding one that fits the space in the van, then put a secured gas bottle in the cupboard underneath.

Although more expensive, it might be easier to find a camper (or yacht conversion) Co in Jersey to advise you as guessing you will need a certificate of some sort to satisfy the authorities(...unless you can ship the van to Biarritz, carry out the work there & then have it inspected.)

Hi Peter
The Spirit cooker would be easy to remove but unfortunately French ‘conformity’ rules state that to register a camping car in France it must have a fitted cooker. If we remove the cooker we have to remove all the fittings so it’s not an option

Does it state what type of cooker or how many burners? If not what about a single burner cooker with disposable cartridges...I never would have thought it would be so complicated..
