T6.1 mirrors

I have a t6.1 and just trying to understand the wind in mirrors.
Basically I have the fold in mirrors when locked setting selected, but yet when I get out and lock the van the mirrors don’t fold in.
The only way the mirrors fold in is if I press and hold the lock button on the lock button on the key remote.
Is this right?
All other cars I have or had all folded up when locked but yet you pay £80k and you have to press and hold the button to fold in??

Hi @Brendan eldridge You can change the setting to fold the mirrors with a single short press on the key fob using a Carista dongle. (Van is supplied from the factory with a long press as default.)

Unusual design these 'folding' mirrors on our 5.1.

Our Ford Kuga has mirrors that fold in parallel to the car and noticeably narrow the width of the car.

What's the idea behind folding up on the VW as opposed to folding in as it doesn't really appear to make any difference?
