We have a 2019 California Ocean. Had 5year warranty and now have 2 year ‘All In’ VW package, with warranty.
Can anyone advise on how the wee ‘paint peeling’ I discovered this morning on the roof whilst washing it can be addressed.
The pix show (1) about the size of a 50p and (2) about the size of a 5p.
Looks like just a top layer of paint peel and no rust ….. yet !
Any thoughts, thanks

that looks like a bit of lacquer peeling, I would be more concerned at what's going on in the trough on the roof to the left of the 2nd photo.

Yes I see that now. Would this paintwork still be covered by warranty ?

Has it had the roof edge bubbling under the rubber seal “fix”? Th edge is rubbed down and re primed and painted before applying a tape and then new rubber. As multiple body shops have told me this isn’t a good long term solution as where the paint is blended there is a danger of laquer peal. Had what looks to be the same issue on mine 2 years after the job. Gave up trying to get VW / the body shop to fix ( they blanked me completely ). Had the whole roof re sprayed in the end at a local paint sprayers.

Nothing has been touched on the roof and the rubber seals etc are good.
Think I’ll contact Edinburgh, John Clark and see what they say.
Had the van from new and purchased in Liverpool.

Reckon I have same issue.
Paint peeling from around the edge of two roof troughs. Pic is of the worst one.
@BeeBee did you get a diagnosis and a fix from Edinburgh John Clark?

I actually ended up going to Lookers /Glasgow ( nearer for diagnosis) After protracted visit and discussion we are having a Specialist Paint Inspector look at it next Friday ( at Lookers and organised by them )
Will update on results and decision.

Well as many of you who have read this thread probably assumed before we pursued the case of blistering on our T6 roof.
We have had an answer from VW after a Specialist Paint inspection…. yes you’ve guessed, A big ‘No’.
However in our update from Lookers Glasgow they included a section of the VW response, which if you can read my inclusion states ‘previous repairs’.
We have had the van from new and there have been no repairs !
I have received a response from the VWCV paint & body inspection team (see below) , unfortunately after the findings of the independent inspection they have rejected the paint/corrosion defect request .

This is the update I racieved, as you can see they state ‘a previous repair’ !!’n

Good morning Greame, after consideration of the Inspection Report, your paint/corrosion request has been declined. The report concludes the damage is the result of a previous repair to the area and poor adhesion, this vehicle is now outside the paintwork warranty period. Please close this DISS report following the details

Thanks for the update @BeeBee. Very disappointing response. Did they indicate how to get the problem fixed? I'll give my local (Sheffield) VWCV a call and see what they say.

I haven’t given up hope of pursuing something given they seem to be saying there is an issue … we’ve never had a repair so I’ve replied to Lookers Glasgow asking for some clarification on what they are referring to as regards ‘previous repair’ .
Until that’s clarified I won’t be looking at where we can have it dealt with.
I’ll keep you updated.

Hi BeeBee. I have a 21 T6.1 Ocean. Paint is peeling on pop up roof, at edge of main roof, at rear. Reported to Lookers (didn't buy there). Response was "Outside Influence". I've been back and forth with VW Customer Care for weeks; they are basically denying all liability. I'm not giving up. Last night I discovered paint is also peeling on the same side, but at front too. Clearly this is an issue with the vehicle.

Try and get them to agree to an independent paint inspection being carried out. Just had mine done after 5 months of haggling, with the result in my favour, despite the lies that came from the VWEO.
VW used this company, who don’t do private work, but you could find your own perhaps.

Vmaxkiddy - was yours peeling on the pup up roof?

No, mine is the A pillar.

My issue (peeling paint on pop-up roof of T6 2018 Cali) is still in progress with local VW van centre, JCT600. Initial diagnosis was poor paint adhesion but that's to be confirmed.
Its been referred to their body-work team on Wed 4/9, no response yet so will update when I have something.
