i have been looking for a long time for a large silicone cover to protect the internal table form hot pans. Found one today at a major garden centre in the lakes. It is really designed for under pet bowls but works well. Seems to fit the table very well.

I know were you are coming from we use to Ikea trays side by side on the table and a wooden chopping board for hot pans fitted over the sink

I've covered the fridge and sink unit tops with black non slip draw liner from B&M to protect them from everyday wear and tear. As well as all the shelves and the bottom of the fridge to stop things sliding. I found a bath mats lines the bench seat draw perfectly.
