tarnished awning rail

We purchased a new t5 beach in June of this year we are really happy with it but still getting use to using it and what works best,however after washing it at the weekend we have noticed the awning rail on the passenger side has now become tarnished,it's difficult to see on the passenger side as we have an awning fitted,we have rang the dealer and emailed a picture and he said he has never seen anything like this before on a new vehicle..has anyone had this problem with theirs?

I'm guessing its a Black one so this maybe no help- But If its the aluminum one mine were tarnished too - a quick polish up with autosol sorted the issue!

Maybe some G3 finishing compound may sort the black one out?

My black one has sort of bluey watermarks on it! I assumed it's the anodising wearing off/ water reacting with something. Mines nearly 5 yrs old though.

On the subject of awning rails mines missing the rear plastic end cap on the passenger side. Anyone know where I can get one?

VW sell them about £1 each if I remember correctly. They are sided also

Thanks for your reply,i it is a black rail took it back to the dealer on Friday and they took photo's and I presume will send these to VW so we will wait for the outcome,just don't expect this on a 3 month old vehicle,on a happier note just had a wonderful weekend in Jessie at Ambleside gorgeous weather
