Thinking about the future of the T7

I have been using IDA for quick control of the Clima system, it’s quicker than going into the menu.

Fly screen not supplied was the same for me, the dealer isn’t really acknowledging it.

I have started removing one seat if we take the dog, fortunately it’s mostly just two of us. If you have the option it opens up plenty of storage, we take Brompton’s for sightseeing and again removing the seat makes this easier.

I have tried every combination for getting up and downstairs from the roof bed and in the end I have ordered a ladder, every other option seems to risk damaging the seats and until we get some seat cover options that support the airbags in the seats I will use the ladder.

I agree about using the large table on the inside, it’s just not fit for purpose. However we use the small kitchen table and it works for two, although it like to have a bracket to fix the leg.
Yeah I found the roof space does need a step or something as the sides cannot be used as leverage to get up

I don't have the sliding window fly screens too. Can you provide a link that they should be included. I'm struggling to find out what they look like and if they should be included. I do have the plastic ones for the front windows.

Has anyone actually got these fly screens for the sliding windows. My dealer says they are not available.

I’ve heard similar. The dealer has said he hasn’t seen any of them in any of the T7 Cali’s handed over to customers, only the new grille for the front windows.

As i understand, the fly screens were standard on the T6 / T6.1 - could it be that these don’t exist on the T7 and the grilles or the front windows are intended to replace them (which are T7 specific)?

VW customer service has informed me that rear fly screens are not provided in the Ocean. There is a brochure error. I would be grateful if anyone can contradict this.

Has anyone got the fly screens? Do they exist?
I was told the fly screens refer to the front window plastic vents as they have a fly screen.
Not that I know of. But the official wording I got was the below ;

Il chase it up and see - if not I think jerba inserts are probably the best option

No flyscreens with the T6.1. All I got were some flimsy, cheap soft black fabric covers for the cabin side windows.

Not sure if this topic is relevant still, but I got fly screens with my T7 ocean when collected in October.

I've followed the T7 from initial concept, press releases, through to the launch and my initial impressions were that I didn't like it much as much as past versions, although having seen it in the flesh, I've done a 180 and I do think it is a very nice version of the California.

About a year ago, me and the Mrs did discuss the idea of maybe going for a T7 once it launches, but in the end we actually went for a low mileage T6 (my favourite of all the California's to date and my 2nd T6 Cali).

I do see a future where we would go for a new more modern incarnation of the California, but given we've literally just got a T6, then it is going to be a few years before this would be an option; so this got me thinking, just for fun, what tweaks/changes would I like to see in a T7.1 if and when one arrives in a few years time...

Here is my list (in no particular order)...
  • Make the two sliding doors an option
  • If only one door is chosen, you can choose which side it goes on
  • If only one door is chosen, have the option of a larger kitchen with two burners
  • Space for some other type of cooking appliance (i.e. microwave)
  • Hot water as an option
  • Solar panel as an option
  • Offer larger colour palette for the two-tones as a custom option (I'd go for Candy White over Cherry Red).
  • Figure out a way to get more camping storage included in the living area and boot.
  • Add more storage to the dash (similar to the comfort dash with colour coded inserts)
  • Add self-levelling suspension as an option
What would you want to see in a future California?
Return od the bench seat and removal of the bed spacewaster.
