Thule side panels installation question

Just installing Thule side panels on 6.1 Ocean wind out awning,
There are two black plastic side beam holders that screw into the awning beam that winds out.
The instructions require a 3.5mm hole drilled for the self tapping screw that holds the plastic holder, however, it’s not clear precisely where to place it.
I’ve aligned it to the van end support bracket which is 3 cms in from the side and everything fits together fine.
Here’s the issue - when you wind awning back in it doesn‘t close properly so I’m assuming that the plastic holder isn’t in the right place, yet eyeballing where to move it to isn’t obvious. Anyone solved this? I’ve emailed Thule but no response yet.

I have a Thule awning but it didn't feel that complex to fit. Maybe its a different model

We used ties to secure ours to the legs & each other which have found quick and easy - appreciating its not your question but a possible alternative solution

I misunderstood your first post. I thought you meant side panels that fit the awning to make it into a room.

My 6.1 came with the awning fitted, a different model to yours so I can’t help I’m afraid.
