I suffered a slight wound today! Whilst rummaging about under the bus (oil change and general check/prod/poke) I noticed the alternator belt was a bit slack. No worries, easily sorted.

Short story even shorter, I sheared off the tensioner bolt on the alternator . ARSE!! BOLLOX!! KNOB !! WAN***!! F**K!! TW*T!! TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTT!!!! (shouted from the pit in font size 30, CAPITALS).

FYI - The easiest way to remove the alternator is forget the single pivot bolt on top and simply remove the entire mounting bracket from the engine block. Much less aggro. Don't forget the big thick cable is live so disconnect the battery before hand.

Once off, I had to hacksaw a slot through the alloy boss and through the seized bolt in order to remove it.
I could see my weekend disappearing before my eyes.

Once back in place, I fitted a lnew bolt/large washer/Nylock to tension the belt. Job done. Weekend back on track.
