Van heater without running the engine

Hi all,

Silly question but in the Vw T6.1 can you turn the heating on without turning the van engine And if so how.

If your heater controls have a button listed 'Rest' press it and the heater will come on for about 20 mins but engine needs to be warm for it to blow hot.
