We all know about the "aluminium touching steel causes corrosion" issue that affects our Calis.
A mate has a VW Phaeton - they are afflicted too and the forums are seemingly alive with the issue which affects all 4 doors. An unusual choice I know, but he got it very cheap second hand when a few months old. He has endured epic problems with VW customer service. He has had to endure countless inspections, re-inspections, trips to dealers. He was told that he caused the problem by banging the doors into walls.
VW representatives claimed that this was not VW's problem, so he took legal advice and got the warranty properly reviewed. It clearly is VW's problem
Then VW offered to replace one door if he paid for the other three. He has kept a file of how much time this has cost him (dozens of hours). He wrote to VW months ago saying that he was going to start charging them his time at £x an hour on exactly the same basis as VW, where £x is what vw charge him for maintenance work
In the end VW is finally recognising its responsibilities and replacing all 4 doors on his car, he is raising his invoice now and will probably take it to the small claims court. He is an accountant so has maintained extensive records of the whole sorry tale, and has been rigorous in his quest for fair recompense. Someone did a similar thing regarding unsolicited phonecalls recently and took the offenders to court and won the case
Shame, VW did not used to be like this
