VW Roof Bars for T6.1

Hi Guys, I picked up a pair of genuine VW Roof Bars from an authorised VW garage a couple of months ago. They looked great in the box but to be honest, I didn't attempt to fit them until this week. Have to admit, I am a little disappointed with how they look on the Cali now that I have.

They are genuine T5 roof bars (only noticed that this week also - not sure why the garage supplied T5 for a T6.1). They sit very high on the Cali and friends have commented that they sit with a very high profile.

Just wondering am I missing something here or why have they been designed to sit so high? Is there a particular reason? Aesthetically, they just don't look like something I would leave on the Cali.

Is there a big difference with the T6 roof bars?

Would appreciate any feedback

Roofrack for California / Caravelle

Hi, Anyone on the site familiar with the Sherpas Combi Translift roofrack ? I am considering developing a similar system for the California / Caravelle. I would be interested in any comments or experiences. Thanks John

Same VW Part numbers for T5/5.1/6 and 6.1.
Made by Thule for VW.

If you want lower profile then you will have to go third party. Thule also make lower profile roof bars.

T5, T5.1, T6.1 have the same fitting. They will be the same bars.

Yakima whispbars have a far sleeker profile

Thanks a Million for that - Yes I thought it may be the same part for the T5&6. I have them now so its a matter of getting used to them!

Thanks a Million for that - Yes I thought it may be the same part for the T5&6. I would have preferred a sleeker look - wasn't sure if there was a design reasoning behind the high profile.
