I assume this is a dealer allocated Cali. 1 month delivery from the Factory is unheard of. I'll be collecting my 4Mo in Amsterdam end of next week or following week. I'll then spend a few days getting acquainted over a leisurely 400 km drive back to Hannover via the Tintin museum.

Just happened to call in with dealer and there it was, unregistered and available for sale!. Enjoy your drive. It will be quiet and no rattles.

Nice, a Tintin fan. I wasn't there yet but it looks special. Have fun with your new california and have a nice ride!

That’s wonderful news. Try not to christen it with red wine, like your motorhome!
Will be great to see you again this year, and we still love Tenby…..hint, hint xx

Tenby was great fun!!! Superb meet. Seem to remember some of our party being told to ‘be quiet’ in the early hours Singing round the BBQ to music accompaniment from
Mrs @Amarillo

I’ve no doubt we’ll catch up. I take the hint re Tenby but I hear there may be something similar in consideration! Oh the red wine incident

I’m reminded that I’d driven across the field at Slimbridge, topped up with water and returned to the pitch, when my wife turned around and looked in the cab and thought there’d been a murder!! Merlot

Collected our 2023 VW 6.1 4 motion today and it’s a beauty. One question. The handover dealer insisted the heater was electric and Volkswagen no longer install the diesel heater. I’m confused, I’m convinced it diesel, it works well although can’t smell the usual fumes outside and its quieter than my T5 was. The manual in the troubleshooting section states if Aux heater is not working then fuel tank could have insufficient fuel. OR battery voltage is too low ( which suggests it’s not diesel??)
Happy to be proved right or wrong. Thoughts?

It’s diesel but needs electricity for the fan starting etc

What a muppet (the dealer).

(Heater runs off diesel but uses electric to start up)

Thanks and I agree so I’m not going mad. Maybe I should explain this to the handover salesman ( who to be fair was a really good guy)

There should be stickers in the drivers door detailing what heaters are installed. I'd expect you have a diesel coolant heater and a diesel cabin air heater.

You’ve got exactly the same heater as you had in the T5, it just runs quieter and has a different control panel with a couple of modes.

Run instantly has a 2 hour time limit before you need to drive otherwise it won’t work.

Run continuously has no time limit.
The remote control turns on run instantly so no using the remote from in bed.

On run instantly there is also the choice of ventilate or heat mode. Ventilate sends ambient air through the dashboard vents. The remote will turn on vent or heat depending on what you last had running.
When your van doesn’t get hot when you’ve used the remote, chances are it’s set to ventilate mode.

Brilliant thank you. The dealer salesman was a lovely guy but I think it’s in his interest that I give him some feedback on this.
